A galaxy takes shape
The galaxy was built from scratch with WebGL shaders. The browser generates volumetric dust clouds, and the shader calculates light passing through them: the dust casts shadows on itself and obscures stars.
From the galaxy to Earth
The camera flies from the galaxy to the Sun, then Earth. The same stars carry over into the flight: each stretches according to its speed on screen, like a long-exposure photograph.
